Red Sea Impact Survey

Red Sea diversions and early peak season demand have disrupted supply chains and spiked container rates since early May. A Freightos.com survey found that many businesses were impacted, though less severely than during the pandemic.

Congestion caused by Red Sea diversions combined with an early start to ocean freight’s peak season demand increase to disrupt supply chains and send container rates spiking since early May.

A recent survey of more than 100 small and medium-sized importers/exporters who use the Freightos.com marketplace found that many businesses did start peak season shipping early this year, Most say that disruptions and rising prices due to the Red Sea crisis have negatively impacted their businesses, including their pricing decisions, but that they do not expect these challenges to last as long or be as bad as those they faced during the pandemic.
